ENTRY 4: Vermis I
Plastiboo is an artist who is most known for their 'Vermis' game series, for context. Vermis is a 1990s point-and-click adventure game. yes, adventure game. not puzzle game. it is a fantasy game with puzzles, combat, classes, the works, set in a gloomy world slowly slipping into decay. there are two games, and if this sounds good, play them. Spoilers below.

I first discovered Vermis long after it was published, through a youtube video reviewing it. I found an Italian copy on the internet archive, downloaded, and played it. It's an extremely short game, only taking about 2-ish hours to beat (in my case). there are plenty of class specific locations and goals though, so maybe i'm just missing the good stuff. I was able to acquire the guides to Vermis I, II, and one of Plastiboo's other games, GODHUSK: REBIRTH. the guides are in english, which is the main reason i was able to beat the game in the first place. Vermis is a gloomy game with a haunting midi soundtrack, firmly planted in the horror genre, a twisted, dying corpse of a once vibrant fantasy world.

For example, take the goblin. There was once a large and powerful kingdom of goblins, but after being all but annihilated by vicious assaults of humans, they have been reduced to a scattered populace of frail, scared creatures. there is a single stronghold, though, a large crypt, holding the emaciated corpse of the goblin princess, the last little sign of hope the goblins have. You, of course, have the option to slaughter every single creature there, looting the princess, and killing her lover. it is a deeply grim, dying world, beset by greed and selfishness. very, very human flaws. I will talk about GODHUSK soon. bye!
